Making social housing more efficient and pleasing to the eye, using the FTP system to lower costs and raise building standards.
Client:
Enfield Council
Contractor:
Engie
As part of a wider refurbishment project to improve aesthetics and services in the local area, Enfield Council employed Playle and Partners LLP.
The Task
ENGIE and Langley were brought in to complete ten Flat to Pitched (FTP) roof conversions and two roof refurbishments.
Careful consideration was needed at the design stage, and the decision was made to move the centre line of the ridge to minimise the impact on the appearance of the buildings.
Once the designs were agreed, Langley created final drawings. Four of the buildings were made up of two blocks that were joined by a podium with garages. In total, there were three archetype designs for the buildings with FTP conversions.
The Outcome
By implementing the FTP system, Enfield Council now benefits from more attractive buildings and the chance to meet modern building standards.
“We have had a positive experience working with Langley on this project from design stages through to completion on site. The regular inspection correspondence and site progress photographs were particularly helpful.”
